President’s Message, Fall Newsletter 2018

Greetings PCMA New England!

I hope you all had a wonderful Summer!  As hard to believe it may be over, we New Englanders know that there are still plenty of warm days and comfortable nights ahead in early Fall to get out and enjoy all our region has to offer before those leaves drop and flakes start to fly!  It is also an exciting time in Boston sports with the Red Sox headed into the post season and the Patriots, Bruins and Celtics all getting their seasons underway.  Lots to cheer for and do not forget the Head of Charles too!

Let us rewind back to Summer for a minute.  We kicked off the season with our annual Summer Red Sox outing on July 10th and as always it was highly attended event and a beautiful night to see the Sox win at home.  Through the generosity of our attendees we were also able to raise another $365.00 for Marisa’s Mission from our 50/50 raffle!  A huge thank you once again to our event sponsor, Visit Forth Worth and event host, Cheeky Monkey for the space and tasty apps.  We could not have done it without you both!

So, what’s next?  Well if you have not registered for our Lunch and Learn on September 25th at The Social Register then there is no better time than now to secure your spot.  This is a not to miss event featuring PCMA Best-in-Class speaker Nicole O’Leary who will teach us the importance of designing events for many generations.  Head to our website today and register https://newengland.pcma.org/.  Be sure to also mark your calendar now for our annual complimentary Oktoberfest Social at Somerville Brewing Company on Wednesday, October 17th and our 2018 Annual Meeting, Educational Program, Don Lawrence Scholarship Presentation and Charity Auction at the Seaport Hotel on Tuesday, December 4th!  Additional details will be forthcoming after our 9/25 Lunch and Learn.

Do you want to do something different in 2019 and be more engaged in our chapter?  Well the PCMA Nominating Committee has issued the “Call for Nominations” for the 2019 selection of Officers and Directors of the Professional Convention Management Association, New England Chapter and we want to hear from you!  The Officers and Board of Directors are charged with the overall responsibility of conducting the affairs of the Chapter.  All terms will begin on January 1, 2019.  Candidates for these positions must be members in good standing of PCMA New England for one year and may be Professional, Supplier Partners, Faculty or Associate Members. Members may nominate themselves or any other qualified member for these positions.  Emails have gone out and will continue to go out until the October 5th deadline for nominations.  Click here for the nomination form:  Call for Nominations 2019

I would also like to make two exciting announcements effective for the remainder of 2018 and all 2019.  Please join me in welcoming our new Platinum Sponsor, Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority and Chapter Sponsor, Party Rental LTD to PCMA NE!  We are so excited to have you join the NE Chapter family and cannot thank you enough for your generosity and support over the next 15 months!

Thank you all for your ongoing support and I look forward to continuing our chapter’s success for the remainder of 2018.  I hope to see you at the Social Register on September 25th for our Lunch and Learn event!

Best,

Jason Ward, NE Chapter President
