A Message from our President

Greetings PCMA New England!

When I was younger my parents always told me, life goes by quicker and quicker with each passing year.  Boy, were they right as I cannot believe we are already half way through 2018!

It has been a very busy 2nd quarter at PCMA NE.  We partnered with our friends over at MPI New England for the first time and celebrated Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) like never seen here in our region.  300 industry leaders across New England came together for one day of collaboration and advocacy on April 19th at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.  Professor and Police Officer Alan Kleinfeld helped us to better respond to event risks that keep meeting professionals up at night.  We also had 28 supplier partner sponsors who showcased their products and services while also providing our meeting planners with the opportunity to learn some fun facts about GMID and enter for the chance to win fabulous raffle prizes during the reception.  While attendees networked and enjoyed the delicious food offerings, we also raised almost $400.00 for our chapter’s charity, Marisa’s Mission.  This day could not have been possible without the generous support of David Gibbons and the entire team at the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA).  I would like to extend another huge thank you to everyone at the MCCA that made this very successful event possible.  We are already busy planning a bigger and better event for GMID 2019!

We quickly moved our focus onto our second educational event which was a first time ‘Start Your Day with PCMA’ breakfast meeting on May 22nd at the Boston Marriott Copley Place.  After receiving feedback from many of our members, we decided to take our June program which has historically been an evening event and moved it to a breakfast event just before Memorial Day.  This proved to be a success with over 70 attendees that enjoyed a wonderful breakfast followed by an educational session on ‘Smart Contracting’ given by Jill Tate with Corinthian Events.  Another huge thank you to Jill Tate, Erin Gilroy, Dennis Brady and the entire Marriott Copley team for your generous support of this successful event.

Many members of our chapter attended or volunteered at the 2nd Annual Triple Crown Night to benefit Marisa’s Mission on May 19th at the Marriott Quincy.  Through the generosity of over 600 guests donned in derby attire and hats bidding on auction items and partaking in raffles, the foundation raised money to continue to help cancer patients and their families in an array of capacities.  To date, Marisa’s Mission has given out 27 grants totaling $154,000.00!  If you would like to donate, please visit http://marisas-mission.org/.

We have all survived another New England Winter and Summer is finally here!  Which means so is our signature Red Sox Summer Social event on Tue. July 10th!  If you have not yet purchased your tickets, then you will want to do so right away by visiting our chapter website https://newengland.pcma.org/.  Limited tickets are available for reception/game and reception only.  We are also busy planning the rest of our educational events for the year, so please be on the lookout for information on our September Lunch and Learn program on Tue. September 25th at The Social Register.

It is never too late in the year to be engaged by attending our events, volunteering to serve on a committee or simply sharing your ideas with any one of us so that we can continue to amplify our chapter to the next level.  It’s also never too early to start planning for next year.  If you and your organization would be interested in hosting and showcasing your venue for one of our educational or social events in 2019, please contact myself or our President-Elect, Cara Pratt.

Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to seeing you at the Cheeky Monkey on July 10th to kick off our Red Sox Social!

Best,

Jason Ward, NE Chapter President
